Blog # 2 Teaching for Understanding

Wow! This article was a good one. It had so many good points. To being let me point out that just as the article read " Teachers want students to master content and develop skills and strategies and attitude characteristics of successful learners." This statement being made, yes, I agree with it. That is the main goal of teachers. Now, I want to point out, what teacher wouldn't want a child to have as many resources as possible to achieve that goal. Technology is very useful in this situation. Technology allows students to access information in a variety of ways and in the least amount of time. Since it's not the same old fashioned way of listening to the teacher, technology has the advantage of getting the student motivated to find his or her own way toward the answers. Another advantage of having the children use technology is that they can find current up to date information. They aren't relying on knowledge that has been passed down from generation to generation and is now suddenly obsolete. Teachers want their children to be motivated to learn, since technology provides with many different and unique ways of finding learning, it's a positive way to keep them focused. By motivating students to learn, they are more apt to retain the information and not forget it. Therefore, their test scores will go up but they will be able use that information later on in life. This article was very helpful to me as a future teacher becuase it reiterated the fact that students aren't as excited by only hearning my voice everyday teach only what I know, they are motivated by learning new things in modern more exciting ways. By combining teaching with technology and the old fashioned way of lecture, the children are better off nowadays than they were back then. There are more avenues to work with in order to make sure ALL children are learning. I enjoyed reading this article.

Blog # 1 Actual

Hello Everyone, hope that you are enjoying the class so far. It seems a bit overwhelming but I guess it's just the beginning... The first blog wants to discuss where in life have I seen that technology has a made a difference. I will begin that question by first asking where in the world have I seen technology make a huge difference? Technology has made a huge difference in every part of the world and with practically everything in the world. To narrow that subject down, lets talk about the business world, specifically the secretarial field. Technology has made a huge impact there. The reason you ask, because secretaries no longer have use a typewriter. It impacts everyone in a business office becuase it saves time and paper due to corrections and haivng to start all over with an old typewriter. Computer technology has made life much easier for a lot of people in the business world. Secretaries are now able to make graphs and charts due to the easy programs online. Technology is a good thing. It makes life so much easier in a stressed out and busy world.

Part 2:

Something significant that I learned in the first week of class.. Well, (This might be a little bit off) but I was stunned when I was reading the article on professional business letters and it said try not to use TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN. I always thought of that greeting as professional. It now makes sense to me to address that person by formal name becuase it does show that you took time and used all resources to find out the name but I was just blown away. I always thought it was professional to use To whom it may concern. I realize it was the lazy way.... or the familiar way!!

Blog # 1 testing....

Hi Everyone! This is my first time posting a blog. I just created my account (A little late, I know but....) I don't know how this is going to be seen on the web ct but I am up for the challenge. I think that education 422 is going to be challenging for me since I'm not very computer savvy in the first place let alone, the fact that I haven't really ever used a mac. I am thankful that my fun and friendly friend Tiffany is in this class with though.. Also, I recognize a few faces from Latino Communities last semester. That's very refreshing.. Alright lets see if this viewable to the whole class on web ct. Have a great day..
